20,000 Trees

While it’s true that Etlingera Farms has the fish, the flowers, the bananas, the chickens, goats, toucans, monkeys and butterflies that you would expect to find in any farm in a tropical paradise, what really sets it above all the others in class and beauty are its forest lands.

The forest at Etlingera Farms was planned using the best body of scientific knowledge of its day.  After analysis of the soils and extensive consultations with tropical forest experts from MINAE, and Earth University, a recipe was developed that provids the greatest utility while attracting a variety of wildlife capable of assuring the forest’s sustainability.

Our trees were obtained from a number of sources including Earth University, (got to find the paperwork on the other agency), and several local viveros.

With the exception of our experiment of planting limited number of pine and Cocobolo trees, all of trees that were planted, are trees that do well, and are native to the area.

The mixture of the forest includes Chancho Blanco, Caoba, Roble,Fruta Dorada, Almendro, Pilon, Espovel, Cedro Armargo, Gabilanes, and Cacao.
